Cable Installation
The cost of cable installation is calculated per linear metre.
The final cost of electrical installation may depend on several factors, including the installation height, routing cables through corrugated conduit, bundling, the number of cables and the type of fixing required for a particular surface.
Cable Installation Methods and Tools
Cable installation usually requires a relatively compact set of tools. Different fastening methods are selected depending on the materials of the walls and ceilings.
When installing cables in channels cut into aerated concrete, one of the main tools is a cordless screwdriver. It can also be used to secure cables to timber ceiling battens and other wooden structures.
Cable Fasteners
For cable installation, we use practical cable ties made from aluminium wire and a screw. When fixing cables to concrete or brick surfaces, the screw is replaced with a suitable wall plug and plastic insert.
The type of screw or wall plug is selected according to the wall or ceiling material. Different fasteners are used for timber, metal, brick, concrete and aerated concrete.
Long wood screws may be used to secure cables in channels or directly to aerated-concrete walls. The screw length is selected to hold the cable bundle securely until the channels are sealed or the wall-finishing work is completed.
Fastening Spacing
The spacing between cable ties depends on the number, weight and configuration of the cables. The installation must provide secure fastening while preventing cables from sagging or protruding beyond the channel.
This is particularly important for the subsequent sealing of cable channels and for high-quality plastering and finishing work.
Additional fasteners should be installed at cable branches, bends and changes of direction. This ensures reliable positioning and makes subsequent finishing work faster and more convenient.
When Cable Installation Can Begin
Cable installation and most electrical work can usually begin after the roof has been completed. Ideally, windows should also be installed to protect the wiring and the interior of the property from moisture and weather conditions.
